So nice of you to join this tribe, I created this tribe for cultural anthropology, archeology, and ethnographic studies, because those are the areas of anthropology that I’m interested in. I’m an undergraduate who is majoring in anthropology and minoring in studio art. I have a interest in ancient civilizations and prehistoric cultures, as well as ethnographic and ancient art. I’d like to know what areas of anthropology and archeology people are interested in.

mostly i'm just looking for recipes for cooking longpig. *wink*

my research interests are wide. as a linguist i'm working on the ill-named "Southern New England Algonkian" - ill-named because it's too freaking hard to say, the alternative being MashantucketPequot-Mohegan-Nahican-Narragansett-Montauk-Shinnecock-Wampanoag-Massachussee, which is possibly even worse.

i'm also on hittite and akkadian (the latter technically two dialects, babylonian & assyrian).

my interests in prehistoric societies of the atlantic coast algonkians and their kin and in early historic anatolia, mesopotamia, elam & north india is not limited to science 'sensu strictu'. in fact, i am far more interested in getting my fingers dirty by reinterpreting, say, the ancient Middle East in a fictional setting with early modern technology. as a writer, the guts of the science are exposed best when i have to really know what the world looks like in my head, and to do that requires significant research.

anyway, i've got a full plate. if anyone is interested in what i'm actually writing about i'd be happy to talk about it.

hello everyone ... so interesting to read through your interests!

i'm currently an undergraduate in cultural anthropology, mostly interested in social theory (and its conversation with art and literary theory), gender (and post-structuralist feminism, as performance, social movements and resistance), neoliberalism, sexuality/representation of sexuality in 'eastern europe', narrative construction of self ...

off to reading-ville ... take care!

    michael.
